It is with pleasure and enthusiasm that I announce the hiring of Carlos Gallegos as our head trainer at Wheaten Point Farms. He is a Master Chalan in both Peru and the United States. Carlos was born and raised around horses in Peru where his entire family back to has great grandfather were Chalans of the Peruvian Horse.
Carlos has 25 years experience in training Peruvian Pasos in the traditional Peruvian manner with emphasis on making each horse gait and perform to their fullest potential. He takes pride, special interest and extra time working on the weaknesses of each horse, treating each one as an individual, teaching each at their own pace and evoking the best they have to offer. He believes a horse should be taught what is expected on the ground before getting in the saddle. In watching Carlos’ calm, patient, quiet way with the horses, his expertise is evident by the response of the horses and their willingness to work for him.
Carlos has worked for many renowned ranches in Peru for many years before coming to the United States. He has placed first in several Regional and National Peruvian shows in Peru starting in 1995. He has continued to prove his expertise in training horses in the United States and winning many honors including Best Gaited Horse of Show, Best Bozal Horse of Show, Champion of Champions Breeding Mare, Champion of Champions Breeding Stallion at the regional levels as well as the United States National Champion of Champions Breeding Stallion of 2009!
